My Green Dream Smoothie

What’s up guys?

How is it May already? Time is flying by + loving this Spring weather + longer days.

Each day is still a little bit different but feeling like I’m finally back into my groove. I’ve been getting my workouts in + nutrition is on point with a side of cookies. #balance. With getting back into this routine, I’ve been on a big smoothie kick lately.

If you follow me over on Instagram, I’m no stranger to smoothies. I’ve even won smoothie recipe contests at the studio I coach at, insert humble brag, lol. So I wanted to share one of the recipes that I entered into the first contest that have pretty much twice a week.

I’m all about smoothies for that post-workout recovery. IMO it’s the fastest + most convenient way to get 20-30 grams of protein within 30-60 minutes post-workout. Why? Protein + post-workout nutrition is crucial for recovery, rehydrate, refuel, build muscle, + improve future performance.

This smoothie will have you feeling ready to take on the day + getting a kickstart to getting those greens in with a tropical feel. Trust me, this is one smoothie that you’re going to want in your rotation.

Recipe:

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk - eye ball to get desired thickness

  • 1/2 cup of spinach - fresh or frozen

  • 1/2 of a banana - frozen preferred (to make this thick)

  • 1/2 cup of pineapple - fresh or frozen

  • 1 scoop of collagen peptides - I like Vital Proteins

  • 1 scoop/packet of protein powder - vanilla or coconut flavor, I like Sano, use code: IGLIVE for 25% off their website

  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened coconut flakes on top or add frozen coconut meat to smoothie

Method:

  • Add spinach + nut milk to blender + blend until smooth

  • Add rest of ingredients to blender

  • Pour into your favorite cup + Enjoy!

  • For a thicker smoothie, start with less almond milk, you can always add more as you blend.

Rather turn this into a smoothie bowl? No problem, I recommend using frozen ingredients + adding almond little by little to get a thicker consistency. Pour into your favorite bowl + add toppings like sliced bananas, berries, chia seeds, nut butter, + coconut flakes.

Hope you enjoy my Green Dream Smoothie + let me know what you think!
